By the Gig comes with HD streaming and LTE speed personal hotspots. But if you don't need these features, Data Saver allows you to turn them off for each line, helping you reduce data usage and save money.
Who can use Data Saver?
Data Saver is included only for By the Gig lines on 4G devices. There is no cost to use Data Saver, and you can turn it on or off as often as you'd like.
How do I turn on Data Saver?
To turn on Data Saver using the the Xfinity Mobile website:
- Log in to your Xfinity Mobile account.
- Go to the Data Details for the By the Gig line you'd like to enable Data Saver for.
- Select Turn On Data Saver.
- Confirm your action.
- Turn airplane mode on and off on that line's device. Otherwise, it may take up to three days to kick in.
To turn on Data Saver using the Xfinity app:
- Sign into the Xfinity app using the Primary user’s Xfinity ID and password.
- From the Services tab, select Mobile lines and data usage located within the Mobile services card.
- Once you're on the Xfinity Mobile landing page, select the phone line for which you’d like to turn the Data Saver feature on.
- Once you’re on the Line details screen, scroll to the Plan Features category, then select Turn on data saver, and follow the prompts.
- You may be required to sign in again.
- Confirm your action.
- Turn airplane mode on and off on that line's device. Otherwise, it may take up to three days to kick in.
To turn it off, just follow the same steps.
