All new Xfinity Mobile customers on our latest plans who choose the By the Gig data option will have one option — 1GB of data that can be shared with others on their account. If you go over 1.2 GB, you'll be charged by rounding up your data usage to the next GB and be charged an additional $20.
Upgrade your account to the latest plan by visting My Account online or the Xfinity app.
If you're on our second-, third-, or fourth-generation plans you can choose between three By the Gig data amounts. But just because you choose one when you sign up, it doesn't mean you have to stick with it. You have the flexibility of changing your data amount based on your needs.
If you're not using as much as you expected, you can change to a smaller amount. If you're using more than you expected, you can go up to a larger amount.
Starting April 15, 2025, the By the Gig data plan will only be available for sale through our assisted sales and support channels. If you're already on this plan, don't worry—nothing changes for you! You'll still be able to manage your By the Gig lines and your data amounts via the Xfinity app or online at Xfinity.com/mobile.
Are there any restrictions to changing my data amount?
You can change as often as you'd like, at any time in your billing cycle. You'll pay for the amount you're on at the end of the billing cycle.
The only exception is that you can't change to a smaller amount if you've already exceeded that threshold. For example, if you're on a 10 GB amount and you've used 7 GB, you're unable to change to the 3 GB amount.
How do I change my data amount?
Xfinity Mobile online account
- Log in to your Xfinity Mobile account online.
- Select a line from your Activity page.
- Select Manage to By the Gig.
- Select the amount you'd like to change to.
- Confirm the change.
- If the change doesn't occur immediately, we'll email you when it does.
- It should take effect within 24 hours.
- Your data usage will carry over to the new amount.
Xfinity app
- Sign in to the Xfinity app.
- Select the Services tab.
- Select the Mobile lines and data usage located within the Mobile services card.
- Select Change shared data.
- You may be required to sign in again.
- Select the amount you'd like to change to.
- Confirm the change.
- If the change doesn't occur immediately, we'll email you when it does.
- It should take effect within 24 hours.
- Your data usage will carry over to the new amount.
