Learn about the differences between PINs, passwords, account numbers, and Xfinity IDs — and when you'll need them.
Note: This glossary doesn't apply to Xfinity Mobile.
Account number
The most basic way to identify you and your service address is your account number. Found at the top of your bill, there's only one account number for each billing address. Your account number is created when you sign up for any Xfinity service and doesn't change.
Xfinity IDs
Your Xfinity ID is your email address, mobile phone number, or username you can use to sign in to your account. An Xfinity ID has a billing account number associated with it, and each individual in your household should have their own Xfinity ID. Primary users can invite other users to create an Xfinity ID, as well as set up their role (Manager, Member, or Viewer).
If you don't have an Xfinity ID yet, you can create one.
One Xfinity ID may have multiple billing account numbers associated with it. These accounts are linked, allowing designated users to switch between and manage multiple accounts.
For more information, read more about creating your Xfinity ID or how to find or change your Xfinity ID.
Voice Security PIN (Xfinity Voice and Business Voice)
Each Xfinity Voice account has a single four-digit Voice Security PIN that protects access to voice features online and over the phone. If you're a new customer, you should have gotten your Voice Security PIN through an automated phone call to your Xfinity Voice number or by mail.
Before you can access certain details about your voice service, including billing details, voice information, and voice features, you may be asked to provide your Voice Security PIN.

Parental Control Locks PIN
Parental Controls are used to limit the content viewable on your TV, including live TV, Xfinity On Demand, recorded programs, and applications on Xfinity X1. If Parental Controls are enabled, the viewer is prompted to enter the Locks PIN to watch restricted content.
You can choose to activate your Parental Control Locks PIN directly on your X1 TV Box.
Purchase PIN
If Purchase Protection is enabled, the viewer is prompted to enter the Purchase PIN in order to make Xfinity On Demand purchases. The Purchase PIN isn’t required for free Xfinity On Demand content.
You can set your Purchase PIN on the X1 or Flex streaming TV Box.
