Learn how to use the touchscreen to arm and disarm your Xfinity Home security system.
What you'll need
- Xfinity Home
- Access to the Xfinity Home touchscreen
- A valid keypad code
What does your Home screen look like?
If your Home screen looks similar to either screen below, go to arming or disarming your system.
Otherwise, go to arming or disarming your system (icons).
Arming your system
Your security system status is displayed on the Home screen. A green shield means that your system is ready to be armed. If your system is not ready to be armed, see bypassing zones.
- What does your Home screen look like?
- If your Home screen looks similar to the one below, tap the Disarmed icon.
- Or, if it looks like the one below, tap the Security shield.
- If your Home screen looks similar to the one below, tap the Disarmed icon.
- On the Select Arm State screen, Away mode is already selected.
- To activate another mode, tap the icon for Stay or Night.
- Learn more about armed modes or tap How do these modes work? on the touchscreen.
- Enter your keypad code. The exit delay begins.
- You have until the exit delay is over to exit the building.
- An entry and/or exit door must open and close during this period.
- Change your mind? To cancel arming, tap Cancel, and then enter your keypad code.
- When the exit delay ends, the system is armed.
- You have until the exit delay is over to exit the building.
Bypassing zones
On the Home screen, a gray shield means that there's a system issue that needs to be resolved before you can arm the system. A summary of the issues is shown below the shield.
- What does your Home screen look like?
- If your Home screen looks similar to the one below, tap the Disarmed icon.
- Or, if it looks like the one below, tap the Security shield.
- If your Home screen looks similar to the one below, tap the Disarmed icon.
- On the Arm System screen, tap Bypass next to an open zone (sensor) to bypass an individual sensor, or tap Bypass Open Zones to bypass all open sensors.
- If you bypass a sensor, it won't trigger an alarm when the system is armed.
- For example, if you bypass the side door sensor and then arm your system, someone entering through the side door won't trigger an alarm.
- For example, if you bypass the side door sensor and then arm your system, someone entering through the side door won't trigger an alarm.
- If you bypass a sensor, it won't trigger an alarm when the system is armed.
- Once you've cleared or bypassed all zone issues, the shield changes to green. Tap the shield to arm your system as usual.
Disarming your system
Your security system status is displayed on the Home screen. How you disarm your system depends on the armed mode — away, stay, or night.
Away mode
When your system is armed in away mode, the entry delay begins when an entry and/or exit zone is triggered, such as opening your front door.
Enter your keypad code before the entry delay ends. The system is disarmed.
Stay mode
To disarm your system when it's armed in stay mode:
- If you come in from the outside, enter your keypad code during the entry delay, as described in the away mode section above.
- If you're inside the house, follow the instructions for night mode below.
Night mode
To disarm your system in night mode:
- What does your Home screen look like?
- If your Home screen looks similar to the one below, tap the Armed Night icon.
- Or, if it looks like the one below, tap the armed shield.
- If your Home screen looks similar to the one below, tap the Armed Night icon.
- Enter your keypad code. The system is disarmed.
Arming your system (icons)
Your security system status is displayed in the Security Status bar at the top of the Home screen.
- Tap the Security Status bar or tap Security.
- On the Security screen, Arm Away mode is already selected.
- To activate another mode, tap Arm Stay or Arm Night.

- To bypass individual sensors (also called "zones"), tap Turn Zone Off next to the sensor.
- If you bypass a sensor, it won't trigger an alarm when the system is armed.
- For example, if you bypass the side door sensor and then arm your system, someone entering through the side door won't trigger an alarm.
- If you bypass a sensor, it won't trigger an alarm when the system is armed.
- Enter your keypad code. The exit delay begins.
- You have until the exit delay is over to exit the building. An entry and/or exit door must open and close during this period.
- Change your mind? To cancel arming, tap the Security Status bar, and then enter your keypad code.
- When the exit delay ends, the system is armed.

- Tap the Security Status bar or tap Security.
- Enter your keypad code. The system is disarmed.
