After installing a new Xfinity Internet Wireless Gateway, your Xfinity Home service will lose its broadband connection for up to 30 minutes. To avoid this delay, you can use your touchscreen to connect to your new gateway within three minutes.
Although this feature is typically used following a gateway swap, it can also be used as a troubleshooting step if your touchscreen and gateway lose connectivity with one another.
Using your touchscreen to connect to a new gateway
- Tap the gear icon, then tap Devices.
- Enter your Master Keypad Code.
- Tap Advanced Settings.
- Tap Connectivity.
- Tap Connect to New Gateway Now.
- Tap Yes to start the process.
- If the WiFi connection between the touchscreen and gateway was established, you will see a green check mark.
- If you see a red X:
- If a “Gateway Swap not necessary” message appears, a Gateway swap is not needed and your Xfinity Home service should be working as usual.
- If an “Updating Wireless Gateway Settings” message appears, please try again. If the issue persists, please chat with an agent via the Xfinity Home mobile app or contact us.
