FAQs
How do I sign up for service at a location that has Xfinity Connected Building service?
If you're a resident moving into a multi-family property with Xfinity Connected Building service, we will create your Xfinity Internet account seven days prior to your move-in date.
You’ll receive an email to create your Xfinity ID. On your move-in day, the Xfinity equipment will already be installed in your home and internet services will be active. Log in to the Xfinity app with your Xfinity ID to connect to WiFi within your unit and throughout the property.
Who owns the gateway?
Xfinity owns the gateway installed in your unit. Please reach out to Xfinity for support with any gateway issues. The pre-installed gateway should not be removed from its location or returned to Xfinity when you move out — leave the gateway in your unit.
Do I have to pay a gateway rental fee?
No. Xfinity does not charge you a gateway rental fee.
How do I activate my Xfinity Internet service?
Create your Xfinity ID by following the instructions in the email you will receive from Xfinity about 7 days prior to your move in date. On your move-in day, your Xfinity Internet service will be automatically activated.
What other services are available to me?
You can sign up for any other Xfinity products or services. Once your gateway is active, you’ll be able to use your Xfinity Internet and Voice services instantly, but if you order additional services, you’ll need to wait until you get your new equipment (whether through Getting Started kit, Xfinity Retail Store pick-up, or professional installation).
Can I move the gateway to another location?
The pre-installed gateway should not be removed from its location. It should always remain in the pre-installed location to provide internet for current and future residents.
What do I do when moving out of a location that is Connected Building?
When you move out, make sure to leave the pre-installed gateway in the pre-installed location. We'll automatically remove it from your account and disconnect your internet services. You won't be charged unreturned equipment fees for the pre-installed gateway, but please return any other equipment you rented from us (such as TV set top boxes) to avoid charges.
