FAQs
Can I install my existing Xfinity Home equipment in my new home myself?
No, professional installation is always required. Contact us to schedule an installation appointment for your new home.
Can I transfer my Xfinity Home equipment installment plan to my new service address?
No, you can’t transfer an open installment plan on your Xfinity Home equipment to your new account. When you move, we’ll accelerate your installment plan and bill the remaining balance as a lump sum on your next Xfinity statement.
What if removing a device damages my home?
Any damage that may occur to your home or devices during the removal is your responsibility. Xfinity isn't responsible for damaged paint and drywall, holes or any other type of damage from removing previously installed equipment.
What items should I remember to bring when I move?
- If you have a camera, don't forget to unplug the power adapter from wall outlet and bring it. Your camera won't work without the power adapter.
- Door/window sensors have two parts. Make sure you remove and bring both pieces, or your sensor won't work in the new location.
What do I do if my devices have low battery alarms?
We can replace batteries as part of the new install for a charge, or you can replace them before your move. Low batteries must be replaced before the devices can be installed in your new home.
As part of the move and transfer process, do I have to sign anything related to equipment?
Yes. All customers are required to sign the Residential Alarm Installation and Services Agreement and corresponding Equipment Addendum with any Xfinity Home move. These documents aren't commitments to keep Xfinity Home for a minimum period. They govern the terms and conditions for having Xfinity Home services installed in your home, as well as record where the devices are installed.
These documents are specific to your physical address and must be signed any time you have service installed, even if you've signed them in the past at previous addresses. If you have additional devices installed after your initial installation, you may be asked to sign an updated Equipment Addendum depending on what you added.
