Have you experienced a power outage? If so, you need a backup power source to make emergency calls using your Xfinity Voice service. In the event of power outage, Xfinity’s backup power solution ensures your phone service remains available for up to 24 hours, provided that the network remains available.
Note: During a power outage, you must use a corded telephone or other device that doesn't rely on commercial power. Xfinity doesn't offer backup power solutions for customer-owned equipment.

Xfinity Voice uses electrical power in your home. If there is an electrical power outage, 911 calls and other calls may be interrupted if a backup power source isn't installed, fails, or is exhausted after several hours.
Furthermore, calls, including calls to 911/E911, may not be completed if there's a problem with network facilities including network congestion, network, equipment, or power failure, or another technical problem. It's also important to note if there's an electrical power outage and a backup power source is installed for your Xfinity Voice modem, only the primary phone number will work.
