Remove Your Existing Power Adapter
Before proceeding, make sure that your system is disarmed. Working on devices while the system is armed can generate false alarms.
Be aware. This device is designed for use with duplex outlets having a center screw. The adapter should not be installed in a ceiling or in a wall outlet higher than 6-1/2 feet from the floor. The touchscreen may beep during the power adapter installation process or it may turn off to conserve battery power. The touchscreen will stop beeping once the installation is complete and power is restored. The display will come back on once power is restored. There is no need to turn the touchscreen off before beginning the power adapter installation.
Caution: Risk of electric shock. To prevent the risk of electric shock, take precautions to not expose the outlet’s wiring when removing the outlet cover screw. When removing the outlet cover screw, the cover may fall across the plug pins or the outlet may become displaced. Secure the unit in place using the provided outlet cover screw.
- Locate the wall outlet that holds the existing power adapter for the touchscreen.
Did You Know? Older power adapters are often secured to the wall outlet using a bracket as shown below. If your installation is not secured to the outlet with a screw, unplug the power adapter and skip to step 4. - Using a screwdriver, remove the outlet center screw securing the power adapter bracket to the outlet.
- Holding the power adapter and bracket together, unplug the power adapter from the outlet.
- To avoid scratching the screen, place the touchscreen face down on a clean towel.
Take a Look. Are there two screws at the bottom of the stand securing it to the touchscreen? If so, remove those two screws before proceeding. Keep the screws for use during reinstallation. - Remove the stand from the back of the touchscreen by sliding it down toward the bottom.
- Unplug the power adapter from the back of the touchscreen.
- Dispose of the old power adapter.
To help protect the environment, please do not dispose the old adapter in the trash. Check with a local waste carrier or your municipality to learn where it can be recycled.

- Plug the new power adapter into the bottom socket of a wall outlet.
Take a Look. Did you plug into an outlet controlled by a wall switch? If so, move the plug to a different outlet. The power adapter shouldn’t be plugged into an outlet that is controlled by a wall switch. - Place the provided outlet center screw through the screw hole at the top of the power adapter and into the screw hole in the center of the outlet.
