What You'll Need
- Xfinity Internet and Self Protection or Xfinity Home Security.
- Note: Some compatible smart home devices have separate Gateway eligibility requirements.
- Access to the Xfinity app for mobile devices.
- Learn more about how to use the Xfinity app.
- A compatible device.
- See which devices can be linked and controlled in the Xfinity app.
- The device will need to be installed according to the manufacturer's instructions and connected to your home network.
- Login credentials for the device.

Add a Light, Thermostat or August Lock
- Sign in to the Xfinity app for mobile devices.
- Select Security and then the Add devices button.
- Note: If you don’t have xFi Gateways, you’ll see a pared down experience in the Xfinity app.
- Select the device you want to add.
- Select Link Now.
- Enter your login credentials for the device.
- Note: Not your Xfinity ID and password.
- Then, select Sign In to link the device to the Xfinity app.
- Once linked, you'll get a confirmation message. Select Finish.
To link additional devices, select another device brand from the Add a Device page and repeat the steps above.
Remove a Light, Thermostat or August Lock
Caution: Removing the device will remove your ability to control it from the Xfinity app; however, if you have an xFi Gateway, the device will continue to show in the Connect section of the Xfinity app if it remains connected to your home network.- Sign in to the Xfinity app for mobile devices.
- On the Security screen, tap the Add devices button in the top-right corner.
- Select the device that you want to unlink and tap the button at the bottom that says, "Unlink all...Devices."
- Tap Unlink to confirm.
