When you’ve reached your monthly data usage threshold, or you’re in a crowded area, the cellular data speeds on your Xfinity Mobile line may be slower than usual.
Reaching your monthly data usage threshold
When your Xfinity Mobile line exceeds its monthly cellular data usage threshold, which depends on your data option, speeds are reduced to a maximum of 1.5 Mbps download/750 Kbps upload for Unlimited and 5 Mbps download/2 Mbps upload for Unlimited Plus. When your next billing cycle starts, your line will be back to full speed.
In the meantime, you may notice some lag time when doing things that require a lot of data (like streaming video and gaming online), so we recommend connecting to WiFi whenever it’s available.
Avoiding slower speeds in crowded areas
Network congestion commonly causes slower cellular data speeds in crowded places, like music festivals and sporting events. When many people are using their mobile devices in the same area, cellular networks can become congested. This results in slower data speeds.
However, during times of network congestion, premium data is prioritized on the network. We now offer premium data with most of our data options:
- By the Gig includes premium data.
- Unlimited includes 30 GB of premium data per line each month.
- Unlimited Plus includes 50 GB of premium data per line each month.
If you use more than your monthly cellular data threshold on Unlimited or Unlimited Plus, speeds are no longer prioritized.
