Want to update your account information? You can change your phone number, email settings, display name or messaging preferences at any time. See below for instructions.
Note: Only the Primary user on the account can make these changes.

Manage contact information
You can manage your contact information and preferences easily on the Account and Identity page or using the Xfinity app.
Phone number preferences
You can receive text notifications and security authentication codes or sign in to your Xfinity account using a verified mobile phone number.
Note: A user can only add or change the phone number associated with their Xfinity ID.
To add or change your phone numbers:
- Go to the Account and Identity page or Account settings
in the Xfinity app (you may be asked to sign in using your Xfinity ID and password).
- Click Xfinity ID and Security.
- If there's no mobile number listed, select Add mobile number.
- Note: If you want to change an existing phone number, click the number and then Change mobile number to edit.
- Enter your mobile phone number and select Continue.
- A verification code will be sent to this number.
- Once you receive it, enter the six-digit code and click Verify.
Note: If you don't receive a verification code to your mobile phone through a text message, please contact us for assistance.
Email preferences
You can change the email address where you receive Xfinity account alerts and communications on xfinity.com or using the Xfinity app. Your comcast.net email is usually set as your default preferred address, but you can change your preferred email at any time.
To add a personal email address to your account, follow the steps below:
- Go to the Account and Identity page or Account settings
in the Xfinity app (you may be asked to sign in using your Xfinity ID and password).
- Note: Individual users on the account can add a personal email address.
- Click Xfinity ID and Security.
- Click Add personal email.
- Note: If you want to change an existing email address, click on the address and then Change email to edit.
- Enter your email address. Click Continue.
If you have more than one email address on the account, you can change your preferred email address.
Note: This is only applicable to accounts with a comcast.net inbox set up.
- Click on the email you’d like to make your preferred email address.
- Select Make this preferred.
- Click Make this preferred on the Emails page to set which email is listed as your preferred email address.
- A Preferred indicator will appear next to your selection.
- We'll send the verification code to the email address you entered.
- Once you receive it, enter the six-digit code and click Verify.
Note: If you have a comcast.net email address, it will be the default preferred option. If you don't, we’ll continue using your third-party email address.
Change your mailing address
You can change where your Xfinity bills and communications are mailed to at any time. This does not affect your service address. If you’re moving and wish to change your service address, check your new location's eligibility here.
Note: If you’re enrolled in paperless billing, your bills won't start being mailed to you if you change your mailing address.
To change your mailing address, follow the steps below:
- Go to the Billing page.
- You may be asked to sign in using your Xfinity ID and password.
- Click Mailing address under the Bill Settings section.
- On the next screen, enter the new address you’d like your mail to be sent to. Once entered, click Update.
- You’ll see a notification confirming that your mailing address was updated successfully.
Change your display name on Xfinity apps, websites, and email
You can change the name that appears when you’re in Xfinity apps, xfinity.com, and Xfinity Assistant, as well as the way your email recipients identify you when you email them. When you change your contact name, your name will show up rather than your email address.

Note: Changing your display name isn’t a legal name change. To change your name on your billing account, visit Name change FAQs.
To edit your display name:
- Go to the Account and Identity page or Account settings
in the Xfinity app.
- If prompted, sign in with your Xfinity ID and password.
- Click Xfinity ID and Security.
Note: You can only change the contact name for your Xfinity ID. - Click Edit name under the user’s name.
- Enter the first and last name, then click Save.
- The updated name now shows at the top of the screen.
- Click Back to return to the Account and Identity page.
Update your text and email alert preferences
To manage what type of alerts you receive:
- Go to the Account and Identity tab in your account.
- If prompted, sign in with your Xfinity ID and password.
- Click Account Communications.
- Set your email and text preferences by clicking the checkboxes.
- Note: If you’re not enrolled in paperless billing and/or autopay, you may not see alert options for those features.
