Learn how to use the Xfinity Home app to rename a device in your Xfinity system. Devices you can rename in the app:
- Light Switch
- Wireless Light Bulb
- Lighting/Appliance/Outlet Controller
- Thermostat
- Door Lock
- Door and Window Sensors
- Motion Sensors
- Smoke Detectors
- Water Detectors
Do you have Works with Xfinity devices? To rename a Works with Xfinity device, use the manufacturer's app. For example, to rename a Nest Thermostat, use the Nest app.
What you'll need
- Xfinity Home Secure or Xfinity Internet
- Access to the Xfinity Home app
Renaming a device
- Sign in to the Xfinity Home app.
- On the Overview screen, scroll down to the device you want to rename.
- Tap the three dots next to the device.
- On the Device Settings screen, tap the pencil icon next to the device name.
- Enter the device name, then tap Done.
- The new name can contain up to 25 characters. It can consist of letters, numbers, hyphens (-), backslashes (/) and ampersands (&). The name cannot be left blank.
