MediumBefore you begin
If you subscribe to Xfinity Home, disarm your system first. Before proceeding, make sure that your system is disarmed. Working on devices while the system is armed can generate false alarms.
Help protect our environment: Please properly recycle your discarded batteries. For your convenience, batteries are accepted for recycling at various locations. Check call2recycle.org or call 1-800-8-Battery (1-800-8-228-8379) to find a recycling location near you.
Is this your door lock? Make sure that your door lock looks like the one in the image below. If it does, you're in the right place.
How to install the batteries
- Place the Phillips screwdriver into the screw head on the top of the battery cover and rotate the screwdriver counterclockwise to loosen the screw.
- The screw is attached to the battery cover by a locking mechanism and does not come completely free.
- The screw is attached to the battery cover by a locking mechanism and does not come completely free.
- Remove the battery cover by sliding it up and away from the interior assembly.
- Take a look. If batteries are already present, remove each battery by using your fingertip to gently pull one end of the battery up until the battery is loose and you can pull it free from the battery slot.
- The battery compartment contains a diagram of the proper battery positions with a symbol indicating which way the positive (+) end of each battery should be facing.
- Insert four non-rechargeable AA batteries into the battery slots in the battery pack, positioning the positive (+) end of the batteries as shown in the battery diagram. The deadbolt will emit a tone that ascends then descends (YRD216) or it will emit four ascending beeps (YRD226, YRD246, YRD256), and the indicator light will illuminate blue and red.
- If you are replacing the batteries because of a low battery warning, confirm that the low battery alert is resolved and the door lock appears on your list of connected devices in your touchscreen and/or the Xfinity Home app.
- Place the battery cover over the interior assembly, aligned with the battery cover tab slots. Slide the battery cover down until the battery cover tabs are firmly within the tab slots.
- Secure the battery cover to the interior assembly using a Phillips screwdriver to turn the battery cover screw clockwise until tightened.
