About DVR
DVR stands for Digital Video Recorder. It lets you record any TV program and watch it at a later time. It also allows you to rewind and fast-forward live TV, pause a show or even create your own instant replays and watch in slow motion.
Control your programs
With DVR service from Comcast, you can pause live TV, view an instant replay or rewind your favorite scenes - all with your remote.
- Pause: Instantly freeze the action. Press Play to resume the program.
- Instant Replay: Immediately repeat the last 15 seconds of a live program or recording by pressing the Instant Replay button until you arrive at the part you want to replay.
- Rewind/Fast-Forward: Available at up to four different speeds to the point of the live broadcast. Press multiple times to increase speed. Press Play to resume at normal speed.
- Skip Forward or Skip Back: Skip in five-minute intervals backward or forward to the point of the live broadcast.
- LIVE: Skip forward to the live point of a program.
- My DVR: Displays the DVR Menu options.

If you have a DVR with two tuners (a dual-tuner DVR), you'll be able to
- Watch one show while you record another.
- Record two shows and watch a third that's pre-recorded.
- Swap between two live shows with the ability to pause, fast-forward and rewind each show. (Press the Swap button to switch back and forth between the two tuners.)
To find out if you have a dual-tuner DVR:
- Review the DVR user manual. The front page of the manual should indicate how many tuners the DVR has.
- The number of tuners may be listed next to the model number on the front of the DVR in the upper right corner.
DVR storage capacity
Most DVRs can record up to 300 hours of standard-definition programming and up to 60 hours of high-definition programming, though this varies depending on model. The DVR Recordings screen indicates how much recording space is available. If there is less than 20 percent of recording space left, you will receive an on-screen message alerting you that your recording space is low.
Note: The above instructions may vary depending on your On-Screen Guide, but the basic functions should remain the same. Select the DVR option from your guide's main menu and follow the on-screen instructions.
DVR service requires an Xfinity TV subscription and DVR TV Box. A monthly charge for DVR Service applies. DVR features not available in all areas.
