Stop unwanted nuisance calls
Spam Blocker uses third-party analytics to apply a spam risk level to all calls you receive. The risk ranking is determined from the call activity of the originating telephone number and isn't controlled by Xfinity. See below for details on how to submit feedback regarding the risk ranking of a telephone number.
Spam Blocker now includes a spam call filtering tool using an Audio CAPTCHA gateway. When enabled, this gateway prompts inbound callers with a spam risk level to enter a two-digit code on a touchtone phone before the call is allowed to connect to the recipient.
Spam Blocker’s default settings will treat calls in the following manner:
- High Spam Risk — Calls will be blocked.
- Blocked calls won't be able to leave a voicemail.
- Medium Spam Risk — Calls will be sent to voicemail.
- Calls sent to voicemail won't ring.
- Low Spam Risk — Calls will be filtered by an Audio CAPTCHA gateway.
- Calls that pass CAPTCHA will ring, and a risk label will be displayed on caller-ID.
- Calls that fail CAPTCHA won’t ring and will be redirected to voicemail.
Regardless of risk level, all calls will appear in call history with risk labels.
To manage your Spam Blocker settings, see Spam Blocker controls and settings.
If you believe a phone number has been mislabeled as spam or want to report a number that appears to be nuisance/spam or fraudulent, see How to report potential call blocking errors. Xfinity will review submissions and may change how future calls are categorized or labeled. Any information you submit is subject to Xfinity's privacy policy, located at xfinity.com/privacy/policy.
FAQs
How does Spam Blocker work with Verified Caller ID and other call blocking features?
Spam Blocker will be applied to calls that are not initially blocked by the Anonymous Call Rejection or Call Screening features and are not verified by Verified Caller ID. Verified calls will not be marked as Spam.
Is there an extra cost/is installation required?
No. Spam Blocker is included with Xfinity Voice and requires no installation.
Can I turn off Spam Blocker?
Spam Blocker cannot be turned off; however, you can adjust your settings so that all calls ring through. To manage Spam Blocker, see Spam Blocker controls and settings.
I’m missing calls that I want to answer. What do I need to change?
In rare instances, Spam Blocker may label a wanted call as Low Spam Risk, in which case the call will be directed to an Audio CAPTCHA gateway. To see if you are missing wanted calls, review your call history and readable voicemails.
If you’re are indeed missing wanted calls, modify your Xfinity Voice Spam Blocker settings to match your desired treatment (e.g., change the Low Risk Calls setting from Filter to Allow).
- Note that modifying the setting will affect all Low Spam Risk calls, not just calls from a specific telephone number.
- Alternatively, if you believe a specific telephone number is being labeled incorrectly, refer to How to report potential call blocking errors.
