Want to update your account information? You can change your phone number, email settings, display name or messaging preferences any time by following the steps below.

Manage contact information
You can manage your contact information and preferences easily online from the Xfinity app.
Phone number preferences
You can receive text and security codes or sign in to your Xfinity account using a verified phone number.
Note: You can only add or change the phone number related to your Xfinity ID.
To add or change your phone numbers:
- Go to the Account and Identity page online or Account settings
in the Xfinity app .
- You may be asked to sign in using your Xfinity ID and password.
- Choose Xfinity ID and Security.
- If there's no mobile number listed, select Add mobile number.
- To change an existing phone number, pick the number and then Change mobile number. If you are on the Xfinity website and changing your mobile number, you will be asked to verify your identity before making this change. You can choose one of two ways:
- Tap a notification in the Xfinity app.
- Enter a code sent through email or text.

- Enter your mobile phone number and select Continue.

- You’ll get a verification code sent to this number.
- Enter the six-digit code in the boxes and choose Verify.
- You will get confirmation that your phone number is verified.
Note: If you don't get a code on your mobile phone in a text message, contact us for help.
Email preferences
You can change the email address where you get Xfinity account alerts and communications on xfinity.com or the Xfinity app.
To add a personal email address to your account, follow the steps below:
- Go to the customer.xfinity.com/settings or find Account settings
in the Xfinity app.
- You may be asked to sign in using your Xfinity ID and password.
- Note: Individual users on the account can add a personal email address.
- Choose Xfinity ID and Security.
- Choose Add personal email.
- Note: To change an existing email address, choose the address and then Change email.
- If you are on the Xfinity website, you will be asked to verify your identity before making this change. You can choose one of three ways:
- Tap a notification in the Xfinity app.
- Enter a code sent through email or text.
- Confirm you are the one trying to change by tapping the notification in the Xfinity app or entering the code.
- You won’t have to do this if you’re using the Xfinity app.
- Enter your email address. Choose Continue.

- You’ll get a code sent to this email.
- Enter the six-digit code in the boxes and choose Verify.
- You’ll get confirmation that your email is verified.
Set your preferred email address
You can change your preferred email address if you have more than one on your account. This only works if you have a comcast.net email and a non-Xfinity email address on file.
- Pick the email you want to make your preferred email address.
- Select Make this preferred.
- Choose Make this preferred on the Emails page.
- The one you picked will have Preferred next to it.
- Xfinity will send a code to this email address.
- Once you get it, enter the six-digit code and choose Verify.
Change your mailing address
You can change where your Xfinity bills and communications are mailed to at any time. This does not affect the address where you have your Xfinity service. If you are moving and wish to change your service address, find out if your new location has Xfinity service.
Note: If you are enrolled in paperless billing, changing your mailing address doesn’t turn on paper bills.
To change your mailing address, follow the steps below:
- Go to the Billing page.
- You may be asked to sign in using your Xfinity ID and password.
- Choose Mailing address under the Bill Settings section.
- On the next screen, enter the new address you want your mail to be sent to. Then, choose Update.
- You get confirmation that your mailing address was updated successfully.
Change your display name on Xfinity apps, websites, and email
You can change the name that shows when you’re in Xfinity apps, xfinity.com, and Xfinity Assistant. When you change your contact name, your name will be used and not your email address.

Note: Changing your display name isn’t a legal name change. To change your name on your billing account, visit Name change FAQs.
To edit your display name:
- Go to the customer.xfinity.com/settings or find Account settings
in the Xfinity app. You may be asked to sign in with your Xfinity ID and password.
- Click Xfinity ID and Security.
- Note: You can only change the contact name for your Xfinity ID.
- Note: You can only change the contact name for your Xfinity ID.
- Click Change display name or Edit Name under the user’s name.
- Enter the first, middle (optional), and last name, then click Save.
- The updated name now shows at the top of the screen.
- Choose Back to return to the Account and Identity page.
Update your text and email preferences
To manage what type of alerts you receive:
- Go to customer.xfinity.com/settings.
- If asked, sign in with your Xfinity ID and password.
- Choose Account Communications.
- Check the boxes next to your email and text preferences. The options here may be different depending on what you are enrolled in, like automatic payment or paperless billing.
- Note: Checking boxes above won’t restart text alerts if you opted out of calls and texts in the past. You need to reply START to 266278 to start getting text alerts again before you can update your preferences.
