How Video Calling Works
The Google Meet app comes pre-loaded on your Android device.
When opening the app for the first time, you'll need to accept the terms and conditions, then give the Meet app permissions to access your camera, microphone and contacts. Google Meet will also request to use your phone number when setting up the app; Google will send you a text for verification purposes.
Once verification is complete, you'll be able to make a video call using your contacts.
There are two ways to start a call:
- Open the Meet app and select the contact you want to call
- Open your contacts from the phone’s dialer and select the video camera icon next to your contact’s name
Note: If you don't see a video camera icon next to your contact’s name, then you can't make a video call with that contact. Google Meet is only supported for contacts who have the Meet app installed on their Android or iOS device. You can send an invite to a non-Meet contact using the Google Meet app.
