I need to test my water detector
You should test your water detector once a month and whenever you suspect that it might not be working properly.
- Place the end of the sensor into a glass of unfiltered tap water.
- Don't use bottled or filtered water because it may not contain enough minerals to conduct adequate electricity for the probe to detect the water.
- When the sensor tip contacts the water, the LED light turns on.
- Remove the sensor from the water.
- Dry the sensor thoroughly with a soft absorbent cloth.
If the water detector LED doesn't come on during testing:
- Make sure you're using unfiltered tap water for the test.
- Make sure the water detector sensor cable is securely connected to the transmitter base.
- Dry the sensor and wait three minutes for the sensor to return to an undisturbed state.
- Test the sensor again.
- If the LED still doesn't light during testing, replace the battery. Test the sensor again.
- After replacing the battery, if the LED still doesn't light during testing, reset the water detector. Test the sensor again.
- After resetting the water detector, if the LED still doesn't light during testing, contact us.
I need to reset my water detector
- Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the closure screw.
- Disengage the tab-like base catches at the top of the cover and lift the cover off of the base.
- Remove the battery from the base's electrical board.
- Press the tamper switch (the spring-coiled button on the electrical board) and hold it down as you reinsert the battery.
- Keep holding it for two seconds after the LED light turns on.
- Release the tamper switch, then quickly press it and release it again.
- In three to five minutes, the LED will start blinking.
- Insert the base catches into the base's tab openings and close the cover like a clamshell.
- Reinsert and tighten the closure screw.
The water detector is sending a low battery alert
