To make sure your Android phone is connected to your private home WiFi network at home or to Xfinity WiFi when you’re traveling, just follow the steps below.
Configuring Your Device To Use Your Private Home WiFi Network at Home and Xfinity WiFi on the Go
For Android phones running OS version 4.4 and above, if you have downloaded the Xfinity WiFi app and signed in, your phone will automatically connect to your private home WiFi network at home and Xfinity WiFi when visiting a friend or traveling.
If you have manually connected to Xfinity WiFi and your private home WiFi network before, your phone may connect automatically depending on the order in which you connected to these networks. Most Android phones try to connect to the most recently connected network available. If your device doesn’t connect to your private home WiFi network by default, follow the steps below:
- Tap Settings.
- Tap WiFi to see the list of available networks (SSIDs).
- To connect to your private home WiFi network, tap the network name of your private home WiFi network in the menu (usually this will be the network with the strongest signal).
- Wait a few seconds while your phone connects.
- If you’ve never connected to your private home WiFi on this Xfinity Wireless Gateway, you’ll need to enter the Network Key printed on the label on the bottom of the Wireless Gateway and then tap Connect.
- If you’ve changed the network key (also known as password) from the original setting, enter that key instead. Find out more about connecting to your Wireless Gateway.
- Wait a few seconds while your phone connects, and you're done!
Note: These steps may need to be repeated if you want your phone to connect to your private home WiFi when you’re at home.

- Find xfinitywifi from the list of available networks and tap it.
- Wait a few seconds while your phone gets an IP address from the xfinitywifi network. Once connected, connected will appear under the xfinitywifi SSID name.
