The Comcast Labs menu of Xfinity X1 allows you to try out experimental features on your TV.
Note: These features are pre-release and not officially supported at this time; as such, they may become unavailable or may not work as expected. If a feature isn't working for you, you can turn it off at any time. This will not impact the supported X1 features.
Turning on Comcast Labs features
You can turn on Comcast Labs features by navigating to Settings > Comcast Labs from the X1 On-Screen Guide main menu.
Use the arrow buttons on your remote to highlight the feature that you want to activate or deactivate, and press OK (or press the raised button on the center of the directional pad if your X1 remote does not have an OK button) to toggle the feature on or off.
Cable signal strength
You can now review your home signal strength in the Comcast Labs menu:
- A green indicator means that there are no signal issues.
- A red indicator means that there is a signal issue that may require action.
To turn on the Low Signal Indicator option:
- Use the arrow buttons on the remote to highlight Low Signal Indicator.
- Press OK (or press the raised button on the center of the directional pad if your X1 remote does not have an OK button) to toggle the feature on.
- The indicator will then appear at the top right of your screen, next to the time and temperature.
Skip Intro on select DVR recordings
Select DVR recordings will have the Skip Intro button once enabled in Labs. If a customer presses OK while this button is visible, the video will automatically jump to the end of the title sequence.
This functionality is only available for select recordings with title sequences that are longer than 30 seconds (as long as it is not the first episode of the season; more coverage and availability will expand in the future).
Power Saver Mode (only appears on Xi X1 TV Boxes)
Conserve more or less depending on your preferences. Press OK (or the raised button on the center of the directional pad if your X1 remote does not have an OK button) to toggle the feature to Standard or Maximum Savings. See X1 Power Saver FAQs for more information.
New Episode Guide
Turn on the New Episode Guide feature to enjoy a redesigned episode guide that lets you easily find free options and available TV seasons. Programming will be filtered by All available content, Only free content and Upcoming linear episodes.
The new episode guide will also let you purchase a TV season at the ‘season’ level; you’ll no longer have to select a specific episode to purchase a season.
Dynamic Audio
Customers with sound sensitivity, difficulty hearing or a preference for a more leveled listening experience can go to Dynamic Audio to control dialogue and background sounds on X1.
From the Dynamic Audio menu, you can turn on Enhance Dialogue or Reduce Loud Noises on your Xi6 TV Box.
