A DVR is a simple way to watch your favorite shows. It lets you record any TV program and watch when it's convenient for you. With X1 DVR, you can also watch your favorite recordings on qualifying mobile devices. All you need is an active internet connection and access to the Xfinity Stream app. Plus, with the Xfinity Stream app, you can download completed recordings to your mobile device to take with you and watch anytime, even when you're offline.

Recordings
- Schedule recordings: Chose whether you want to record by channel, network, sports team, or personality.
- Scheduling a recording couldn’t be easier: use your Xfinity Voice Remote or Stream app.
- Episode or series recordings: Set a series recording to watch your favorite show instead of setting individual recordings.
- Recording start times: Set your recording one to two minutes early so you don’t miss the beginning of a program.
- Auto-extend: A recording can be set to run longer than the original schedule in case the program runs long or starts late (i.e. in the case of a football game) by three, five, or 30 minutes.
- View future recordings: To view your scheduled recordings, go to the Scheduled section in your Saved menu.
- This section will show you what's scheduled to record by day.
- Scheduling conflicts: If you set up more than your maximum recordings that air at the same time, you may be presented with a conflict notification.
- Select the program you wish to record and delete another.
Storage capacity
When you subscribe to DVR with an X1 TV Box you get approximately 150 total hours of storage. You can purchase Premium DVR service, giving you a total of 300 (150 additional hours) storage hours through your X1 TV Box, online at xfinity.com or by contacting us. With some services, like Xfinity On Campus and Choice TV Select, you can record up to two simultaneous recordings without an X1 DVR TV Box with 20 hours of DVR storage.
Manage and filter your recordings
You can manage your stored and scheduled recordings by choosing Record Options to Modify or Cancel your recordings. The most recent recordings replace older recordings when nearing capacity unless the older recordings are marked as For 1 Year.
If your DVR storage is full of marked For 1 Year recordings, you have to delete a recording to record a new one.
Filter your recordings: View recordings by the device they were recorded on. Simply pick the device you want to view recordings for.
Delete recordings
The DVR automatically erases programs when space is needed. It deletes the oldest recordings first. However, you can change the recording option to save For 1 Year.
Delete recordings: You can delete recordings by going to the Saved section and navigating to Recordings or by pushing the D button on your remote. Learn more about deleting a recording on X1 or through the Xfinity Stream app.
Recover deleted recordings: If you accidentally deleted a recording, no problem! Check the Recently Deleted section in your DVR. Select the recording you want to recover and click Recover to move it back to your recordings or select Delete Now to permanently delete it. Learn more about recovering a recording deleted from your X1 DVR.
What can you record?
Your DVR will record the following:
- Dolby Digital 5.1: As long as the program is being broadcast in Digital Audio, the DVR will record the digital audio portion.
- Music channels: Yes, you can record and play back music channels.
Your X1 DVR won’t record the following:
- Xfinity On Demand programming: Xfinity On Demand programs can't be recorded by the DVR.
- Keep in mind that Xfinity On Demand programs are available to watch over a specified period and can start anytime you choose.
- On-screen program guide, audio volume changes, or anything else that appears on the screen when using the remote buttons: The DVR only records video and audio of the program you’re recording.
Parental controls
Your DVR will record programs regardless of the parental control settings. However, if a recorded program has a parental control lock, you won't be able to see or hear it without first entering your PIN.
Need additional help with parental controls? Learn more about setting up a Locks PIN and turning parental controls off or on. You can also set up parental controls on the Xfinity Stream app.
