Xfinity Flex settings let you set preferences for your On-Screen Guide and for your device, set and manage Parental Controls and access Help.
Access the Help menu
The Help menu is located on the Home page on Xfinity Flex streaming TV Boxes and also in Settings. You can also just say "Help" into your Xfinity Voice Remote to bring up the Help menu.
Home page
From the Home page, scroll down to the bottom right and select Help.
Settings page
Say "Settings" into your Xfinity Voice Remote to bring up the Settings menu.
Settings is also located on the Home page on Xfinity Flex streaming TV Boxes. You can also scroll down to the bottom and select Settings.
Use your remote's keypad to go to Settings:
- Press the xfinity or Home button on your remote.
- Scroll down to the bottom and select Settings.
- Press OK (or the center of directional pad) to go to the Settings menu.
About Xfinity Flex settings
- Access Notifications and turn them on or off.
- Select My Account to open the Xfinity My Account app for managing your account, as well as billing and appointment information.
- Select Apps & Subscriptions to view, manage and unsubscribe from your Hulu plan if you signed up from your Flex streaming TV Box.
- Note: Any apps that came pre-installed on your device are unable to be deleted.
- Select General within the Preferences option in the Settings menu to do the following:
- Turn Prefer Best Available Resolution on or off.
- Turn Autoplay Next Episode on or off.
- Reschedule Daily Update Time.
- Select Notifications within the Preferences option menu to do the following:
- Turn Notifications on or off.
- Device Settings lets you:
- Turn Closed Captioning on or off.
- Modify Closed Captioning Options.
- Set audio/video resolution settings.
- View your best available video resolution.
- Manage the screen saver, power saver or device name and power preferences.
- View measurements as Metric Units (temperature in Celsius and speed in kilometers per hour).
- Control the brightness of the lights on your streaming TV Box.
- Note: Screen saver and power saver will not turn on while Pandora is playing.
- Remote Settings lets you see your Xfinity remote control's model number, firmware version and battery level, as well as customize its functionality:
- Voice Control – Turn the Voice Control feature on or off.

- Turn Onscreen Voice Suggestions on or off.
- Configure Shortcut Button (XR16 Voice Remotes only).
- Voice Remote Pairing – Set up and program your remote with your TV and audio equipment to control its input, volume, etc.
- Voice Control – Turn the Voice Control feature on or off.
- Language sets the default language to English or Spanish for most Flex menus and notifications.
- You can change the Voice Search language while keeping the Flex menu in another language.
- The current options are U.S. English, Canadian English and U.S. Spanish.
- You can also reset the secondary audio track you've chosen to the default language, manage Closed Captioning options and turn it on or off.
- Parental Controls lets you restrict access to apps and networks on your TV.

- Purchase PIN lets you restrict purchase of content or subscriptions on your TV.

- Accessibility Settings lets you:
- Turn on audio description and voice guidance.
- Manage Closed Captioning services.
- Reset your secondary audio track to the default language.
- It's also available in Language and Audio settings.
- Connect Bluetooth devices.
- Set the Remote Shortcut as Voice Guidance (XR16 Voice remote only).
- Access Accessibility Features and Help.
- Turn Sound Cues on or off.
- Privacy shows all your privacy settings in one place. It includes:
- Watch History.
- Third-party App Watch History.
- Recommendations Based on Watch History.
- Personalized ads in third-party apps.
- Reset your advertising ID:Xfinity Identifier for advertising; by resetting, it allows better targeted advertising across over-the-top platforms.
- Voice Control.
- Clear locally stored data.
- Connect Bluetooth Devices.

- Help gives you the following options in addition to how-to tutorials to make the most of your Flex experience. (See Help Menu navigation for more information.)
- Restart: Restarts the device to fix common issues.
- System Refresh: Multi-check process that can fix account and device problems.
- Remote Setup: Takes you through remote radio frequency (RF) pairing flows and infrared (IR) programming for TV and audio devices.
Note: Remote controls without a Setup button should utilize this feature to setup the remote control. - Reset Netflix: Log out of your personal Netflix account and clear your user history when encountering issues.
- Connection Status: Check for outages in your area.
- WiFi: View your WiFi network name and password.
- Notices gives information about our open source and other third-party software or products.
- About gives information about Flex streaming TV Box, such as:
- Remote Battery Level.
- Device ID.
- Personalized Device Name.
