Learn what to do when you have a problem with a Light Switch or Wireless Light Bulb in your Xfinity Home system.
What You'll Need
- Xfinity Home
- Access to the light you're having trouble with
Difficulty
Easy
I can't control my LIFX, Lutron Caseta or Philips Hue Lights from the Xfinity Home app.
Before you begin:
- Have you installed your light and created your LIFX, Lutron or Philips account?
- Have you connected your light to the Xfinity Home app?
- Do you know how to control your light from the Xfinity Home app?
- Is a rule to control your light not working?
If you can't control your lights from the Xfinity Home app:
- Restart the Xfinity Home app.
- If the problem continues, confirm that you can control your light bulb from the manufacturer's app.
My lights won't dim.
GE or Leviton: Ensure that your light bulbs are dimmable; the dimmer setting only works with dimmable bulbs.
Centralite: Ensure that your light bulbs are dimmable. If your lights are dimmable:
- Tap the Light Switch to turn the light on.
- Press and hold the top section of the Switch to begin dimming the light.
- When the light reaches your preferred brightness, release the Switch.
- To turn the light on or off after dimming, tap the Switch.
Xfinity Home: Did you set the Light Switch to dimmable when you paired it with your System? You can easily check your dimmable settings in your touchscreen.
- Depending on your Home screen:
- Swipe up to open the Dashboard (if applicable), then tap the gear icon, then tap Settings.
- Or, if your touchscreen has apps, tap Settings.
- Enter your four-digit Master Keypad Code.
- Tap Home Devices.
- Tap Lighting.
- Tap Edit Lights.
- Tap the Light Switch's name.
- Verify that Dimmable is set to Yes.
How do I dim my lights manually?
The brightness level of the Sengled Element Touch Light Bulb can be adjusted manually. All lights can be dimmed using the app.
The Light Bulb will cycle through brightness levels (100% > 75% > 50% > 25% > Off > 100%) each time the switch on the base of the Light Bulb is pressed.
My LIFX or Philips Hue Light Bulb isn't showing the color I picked.
LIFX and Philips Hue light bulbs support the color spectrum specific to each model. If the lamp bulb doesn't turn the color you picked, then your bulb model doesn't support that color. You can verify that the color is or is not supported by trying the color selection in the manufacturer's app.
The light flickers when the light switch is turned off.
This sometimes happens when using fluorescent (CFL) light bulbs in a non-dimmable light operated by a dimmable Light Switch. Replace the bulb with an LED or incandescent light bulb.
If you don't have a dimmable light or don't want to use one, replace the Light Switch with a non-dimmable Light Switch.
My light switch doesn't always turn the light on or off.
Turn the light on from the Xfinity Home app or touchscreen to make sure the blue or green LED on the Light Switch turns on.
If the LED turns on, but the light does not:
- Check the lightbulb to make sure it's not burned out.
- If the Light Switch is dimmable, make sure the dimmer isn't set all the way to its lowest setting (the light might be on but not appear to be).
- Make sure you're not trying to use the Light Switch for three-way switching (where one light is controlled by two Light Switches). Three-way switching is not supported.
If the LED doesn't turn on, check your circuit breakers to make sure there is power to the Light Switch. If there is power, but no LED light, contact us for assistance.
Before pairing, the light switch won't turn the light on and off.
Before pairing, the Light Switch should function as a normal switch. If it doesn't, check the wiring. It may not be wired correctly.
Make sure you're not trying to use the Light Switch for three-way switching (where one light is controlled by two Light Switches). Three-way switching is not supported.
My Sengled Light Bulb Won't Pair
Try moving the Light Bulb closer to the touchscreen. Remove any other wireless devices, such as the internet modem, router, cordless phone etc. between the Light Bulb and the touchscreen.
Your Light Bulb should be able to pair if it is within 65 feet of the touchscreen, but you may need to move the Light Bulb closer depending on the construction of intervening walls (for example, brick versus drywall) or other obstacles (e.g., large appliances such as a refrigerator).
If these actions don't resolve the issue, try resetting your Light Bulb.
How do I reset my Sengled Light Bulb?
Element Touch Light Bulbs (Z01-CIA19NAE26) can be reset, but will need to be re-paired with your system.
- Press and hold the button at the base of the bulb for a minimum of 20 seconds. The Bulb will un-pair from your system, then blink five times.
- When the Light Bulb begins pulsing, re-pair it with your system.
Element Classic Light Bulbs (Models A19 and BR30) can be reset, but will need to be re-paired with your system.
- Turn the light containing the Light Bulb on and off, at least 10 times, in quick succession. If successful, the bulb will blink five times.
- If it does not blink five times, try this step again.
- When the Light Bulb begins pulsing, re-pair it with your system.
My Light Switch won't pair.
You may be able to move the touchscreen closer to the location where you want to install the Light Switch. We don't recommend moving the touchscreen from where it was installed, but if you do, make sure it doesn't lose connection with your gateway.
