How do I use voice control?
Press and hold the Voice (Microphone) button while speaking a command into the microphone located at the top of your Voice Remote. Be sure to speak one to eight inches away from the microphone. Release the Voice (Microphone) button when you've finished the command.
If you’re using an XRA Large Button Voice Remote, you can press and release the Microphone button before saying the command.
Note: The XRA Large Button Voice Remote is not compatible with Xumo Stream Boxes at this time.
When is the microphone on?
The microphone is only on while you're pressing and holding the Voice (Microphone) button on your Voice Remote. A flashing light on your Voice Remote and a microphone symbol on the TV connected to your X1 TV Box let you know the microphone is on and listening for your voice commands. Your Voice Remote will make a brief sound when you press the Voice (Microphone) button and then again when you release it.
What voice commands can I use?
The Voice Remote supports natural language speech recognition, so you can search by keyword or phrase. Use voice control to change channels, search for shows, get recommendations and more. Here are some examples of voice commands:
- "Watch NBC."
- "Find kids movies."
- "Launch Sports app.
- "Show me what's on tonight at seven."
- "Turn on Closed Captioning."
- "Show me settings."
What happens to my voice commands after I speak into the remote?
Voice commands are sent to us and our contracted service provider for processing. We use them for quality assurance, troubleshooting and customer support. We also use them to improve our products, services and voice recognition algorithms.
Why doesn't my Voice Remote recognize my voice commands?
If your commands aren't recognized, make sure you're speaking clearly and at a natural, conversational volume. Hold the remote one to eight inches away while giving a command and hold down the Voice (Microphone) button until you're done talking. If you're still having trouble, consider whether there are other sources of noise near you that may be interfering with your voice commands.
The battery levels in your remote could also have an impact on voice commands. To check your battery level, visit the About section of the X1 Settings, Xumo Stream Box Settings, or Flex Settings menu. If your battery level is red or yellow, try changing your batteries. If your remote has low battery power, you’ll see a notification that says, “Voice Commands cannot be processed due to critically low remote battery.”
Why won't the Voice Remote work with my other Xfinity TV Boxes?
Once your Voice Remote is paired to a TV Box, it's uniquely paired and won't control other Xfinity TV Boxes unless paired with another box.
Note: The voice recognition feature isn't supported on RNG150 X1 TV Boxes.
What Xfinity TV Boxes can I use with the Voice Remote?
The Voice Remote and XRA Large Button Voice Remote are supported by all X1 TV Box models (except the RNG150) and all Flex streaming devices. The Voice Remote must be paired with the appropriate model TV Box to enable voice control.
Note: The XRA Large Button Voice Remote is not compatible with Xumo Stream Box at this time.
Will my Voice Remote control my TV, audio receiver and sound bar?
Yes, for most models. Visit xfinity.com/remotes to see if the remote supports your TV, audio receiver, or sound bar and for instructions to set up your Voice Remote to control your TV and audio receiver or sound bar, if supported.
How do I get a Voice Remote?
The Voice Remote is available to new and existing X1, Xumo Stream Box, and Flex customers. Visit a local Xfinity Store to pick one up in person or order one to be shipped to you via UPS in a Getting Started kit (accessory shipping and handling fee will apply) through the Xfinity Assistant.

What is the Xfinity Web Remote and how can I use it?
Our Xfinity Web Remote allows X1 and Flex customers to control their experience using a web-based remote that works in a browser on any computer or mobile device. It can be integrated with and controlled by the assistive technologies customers with disabilities are already comfortable using, like eye tracking, voice control software, screen readers or switch devices like sip and puff.
Customers with disabilities that affect speech can choose to type commands, and those with disabilities preventing them from manually using a remote can use eye tracking devices to enable their eye movements to become their mouse and blinking to become their click.
