SmartBar
- Press the INFO button on the XR2 remote control.
- Provides program information, TV Listings guide grid, Setup and Watch in HD.
- Watch in HD appears when there is an HD version of the channel available. Pressing OK on the remote will tune to the HD channel.
- To turn the SmartBar off on an HD TV Adapter:
- Press the xfinity button on your remote.
- Select Guide Setup and press OK on your remote.
- Highlight SmartBar Timeout, then press OK on your remote until timeout is set to OFF.
- If SmartBar Timeout is set to ON (number value), it will disappear at the chosen time after the user presses INFO.
TV Listings Guide Grid View
- Scroll through the TV Listings for current and future programs - up to 24 hours in advance.
- Press the Guide button on the remote to access the grid.
- To see more details about a program, highlight the program and press OK on the remote to display the program Information screen.
Program Information
- Press INFO twice on the current channel or once for a program while in TV Listings.
Setup Menu
- Press xfinity and navigate the Settings menu.
- Customize the user interface for features such as Parental Controls and Closed Captioning.
Guide Setup
Allows you to change the following options:
- Guide Text Language: Change the language of the text display (English or Spanish).
- SmartBar Timeout: Default setting is five seconds, but can be made longer or turned off completely.
- To modify the SmartBar timeout:
- Highlight SmartBar Timeout, then press OK on your remote to cycle through available options.
- Select Guide Setup and press OK on your remote.
- Press the xfinity button on your remote.
- SmartBar Position: Default setting is the bottom of the screen, though it can be changed to the top of the screen.
Audio Setup
- Choose your preferred language settings for the best audio experience (English or Spanish).
Note: If the channel you're watching has more than one audio track available for a program, language options may be displayed.
Parental Controls
- Manage access to certain types of content by blocking channels, locking shows by rating (movie or TV) or hiding program titles.
- To access Parental Controls, press xfinity on your remote and navigate to Locks Setup.
- A four-digit PIN will first need to be created and will be requested when changes to the Parental Controls are made.
- If you forget the Parental Controls PIN, you can retrieve it online by clicking Forgot PIN in the Parental Controls section of their account, or by calling Comcast Customer Service for assistance.
- Parental Controls locks can also be accessed from the program Information screen by choosing the Locks button.
- When tuned to a locked or restricted channel, the PIN entry overlay will display. The channel will be unlocked once the correct PIN is entered.
Closed Captioning
- Manage enhanced Closed Captioning settings: customize font color and size, background color, window color and other settings.
- To set custom Closed Captioning settings, simply press the xfinity button on your remote, navigate to Closed Captioning and press OK.
- Choose from Off, Auto or Custom.
- Auto uses the standard settings from the programmer.
- Custom allows you to modify and use your preferred settings.
- Closed Captioning preview text is provided and will show you what the captions will look like with your custom settings in place.
- Captions can be toggled ON or OFF using the C key on your remote control.
- Note: This only turns the captions ON or OFF, you will need to go into the Setup menu to make any custom changes.
HDMI Setup
- Allows you to make changes to the TV Output Resolution over the HDMI cable.
- Auto
- 1080i
- 720p
- 480p
- 480i
- The TV Aspect Ratio will change based on the TV Output Resolution selection.
- 1080i Output Resolution = 16:9 Aspect Ratio
- 720p Output Resolution = 16:9 Aspect Ratio
- 480p Output Resolution = 4:3 Aspect Ratio
- 480i Output Resolution = 4:3 Aspect Ratio
Remote Control
The HD TV Adapter uses the XR2 remote as the standard remote control provided. Other XR version remotes will work with the TV Adapter, but the voice functionality on the XR5 will not function.
- The Settings page will display the same pairing instructions that come with the remote.
- Once pairing is complete, you will be able to see that the remote is Paired and the Current Remote Battery Level.
- RF Remote (Advanced) Enabled: Means that the device will accept RF commands from the remote control.
- If set to Disabled, the device will not accept commands using RF from the remote - the xfinity button is the only exception.
- IR Remote (Advanced) Enabled: Means that the device will accept IR commands from the remote.
- If set to Disabled, the device will not accept commands using IR from the remote.
- It is recommended that both settings remain Enabled.
