How to install the battery
Before proceeding, make sure that your system is disarmed. Working on devices while the system is armed can generate false alarms.
We recommend using lithium batteries. Typically, lithium batteries last two to three times as long as alkaline batteries; in our testing, lithium batteries last for two to three years versus six months for alkaline. For best results, use the battery brand recommended by the manufacturer.
Is this your keypad? Make sure that your Keypad looks like the one in the image below. If it does, you're in the right place to find out how to install batteries in your Keypad.
- Grasp the sides of the keypad and slide it upwards until it releases from the back cover. After removing the cover, you may receive a tamper alert from your system. The tamper alert warns you when the cover of your device is open and will clear once the battery is replaced and the cover is reattached.
Take a look. If batteries are already present, remove the top left battery first by gently using your fingertip to pull one end of the battery up until the battery is loose. Then, you can it free from the slot.
The battery compartment contains a diagram of the proper battery position with a symbol indicating which way the positive (+) end of the battery should be facing. - Insert four non-rechargeable AA lithium batteries into the battery slots, positioning the positive (+) end of the batteries, as shown in the battery diagram. Be sure not to press down on the tamper (blue square) when inserting the battery, as this will reset the Sensor to the factory settings.
- Align the posts on the back cover with the slots in the keypad, and then slide the keypad down until it snaps onto the back cover.
- When the batteries are inserted correctly, the small green light next to the battery compartment will light up.
- If you're replacing the batteries, confirm that the low battery alert has resolved.
- Arm and disarm your system to confirm that the Keypad is working correctly.
- You may need to adjust the volume to your preferred level. To increase the volume, press and hold the 2 button. To decrease the volume, press and hold the 5 button.
