How to apply
It's easy to get affordable high-speed internet at home with Internet Essentials from Xfinity. Just follow four simple steps:
Step 1: Qualify.
You may qualify if you:
- Live in an area where Xfinity Internet service is available.
- Qualify for programs like the National School Lunch Program, housing assistance, Medicaid, SNAP, and others.
- New York residents may qualify through additional eligibility options (eligibility or enrollment in senior citizen or disability rent increase exemptions or a recipient of an affordability benefit from a utility). See New York Affordable Broadband Act and Internet Essentials from Xfinity for more information.
- Have not had Xfinity Internet within the last 90 days.
- Have no outstanding debt to Comcast that is less than one year old.
Step 2: Submit your application online.
Signing up is easy and fast from your mobile device.
- Go to internetessentials.com or es.internetessentials.com, or call 1-855-8-INTERNET (1-855-846-8376).
- Complete the application online.
- Available in seven languages: English, Spanish, Arabic, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, and Somali.
- You can speak with one of our bilingual (Spanish) agents or in any other language with an interpreter.
- At the top of the application screen, click Language and select your language.
- Materials for Internet Essentials are also available in 16 languages: Arabic, Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin), Haitian, Hmong, Korean, Oromo, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Somali, Tibetan, Vietnamese, English, and Spanish.
- Available in seven languages: English, Spanish, Arabic, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, and Somali.
- Choose Internet Essentials or Internet Essentials Plus.
- If you have a Sponsorship or Promo code, enter it in the field provided and leave the Internet Essentials Plus selection set to No. Any upgrades to Internet Essentials Plus that are covered by a sponsor will be done after checkout.
- Provide the personal information necessary during the application process to complete the basic eligibility checks.
- If further verification is required for your eligibility, an application will be mailed or emailed to you.
- You should get the application within three to five business days by mail or one day by email.
- If during the application process there’s a problem with your Social Security number (SSN), you may get a text message (if you’ve consented to receive text messages) to verify your identity.
- Or we may ask you to upload a selfie displaying a valid ID online to complete the approval process.
- If you’re completing the application online and need to submit eligibility documentation, you can take a picture of it with your phone and upload within the application to submit for review.*
- You can save your application online at any time and come back when you’re ready to finish it.
- You can retrieve a saved application by entering your last name and phone number.
- If further verification is required for your eligibility, an application will be mailed or emailed to you.

Step 3: Get approved.
We'll review your completed application and let you know through text message, email, or regular mail if you are approved. If we need documentation, the fastest way to submit is to take a picture with your phone and upload it directly in the application.
Once approved, you can schedule an installation, have a Getting Started kit shipped or go to an Xfinity Store to pick up a Getting Started kit. You’ll get a welcome letter with program details and program terms and conditions.
Step 4: Get online.
If approved, you could have a home internet connection in five to seven business days. Use the step-by-step guide included with your internet equipment to set up your service.

Anyone who has been approved for Internet Essentials is eligible to purchase a discounted laptop computer.
