Your device is compatible — With limited features

If your device returns a result of "Your Device Is Compatible — With Limited Features" after you use the IMEI checker, it means that your phone will work with Xfinity Mobile — but some features may not be available. Learn about what it means when your phone works with Xfinity Mobile but has limited compatibility.

Some features like WiFi calling, PowerBoost at home, and smartwatch “cellular” pairing may not work on some devices.

Xfinity apps may not automatically install when you activate your phone with limited compatibility — but you can still download them yourself.

This article explains those features and how to get the most out of your device.

What does limited features mean?

If your device returns a result of "Your Device Is Compatible — With Limited Features" after you use the IMEI checker, it means that your phone will work with Xfinity Mobile — but some features may not be available.

For example:

  • Your device may not support WiFi calling or PowerBoost at home.
  • You won’t be able to pair a smartwatch with your phone via cellular connectivity but you will be able to connect via Bluetooth pairing.
  • Your device won’t automatically download Xfinity apps during activation.

We’ll let you know during the compatibility check, and we’ll also send you an email reminder if your device has limited features.

For more information on the features that are not available on your device, continue reading.

What is WiFi calling?

WiFi calling lets you make calls and send texts over a WiFi network when cellular service is weak or unavailable. It’s helpful in places with poor signal, like basements or rural areas. Phones sold by Xfinity Mobile and NOW Mobile support WiFi calling.

  • If your device has limited compatibility, WiFi calling may not work.

For more information about WiFi calling with Xfinity Mobile, review what is WiFi calling.

What is PowerBoost?

PowerBoost is a feature available to Xfinity Mobile customers that gives you faster mobile speeds (up to 1 GB) when connected to:

  • Xfinity Mobile public WiFi hotspots
  • Your in-home Xfinity WiFi

If your device has limited compatibility,

  • You’ll still get PowerBoost on the go thru public WiFi hotspots, but
  • You won’t get faster speeds at home.

For more information about WiFi calling with Xfinity Mobile, review Xfinity Mobile PowerBoost — FAQs.

What is smartwatch pairing?

Smartwatch pairing means connecting your smartwatch to your phone using Bluetooth or Cellular so you can share things like messages, calls, and fitness data.

If your device shows limited compatibility after using the IMEI checker,

  • You’ll only be able to pair it using Bluetooth.

This means:

  • You can still get notifications and make/receive calls, but
  • Your phone must be nearby (within Bluetooth range).
